“Specialized Rehabilitation Hospital-VITA” Ltd. is the successor to a medical institution established by order of the Minister of Defense in 1970 under the name “Military Sanatorium”.

It is the newest in the Bulgarian Army system, designed and built as a medical facility intended for rehabilitation and prevention of diseases of the musculoskeletal system, the peripheral nervous system and the respiratory system.

It existed as a Military Sanatorium until the fall of 1992, when, by Order of the Chief of the General Staff, it was renamed the Center for Rehabilitation and Prevention within the Military Medical Service of the General Staff and was directly subordinate to the Medical Directorate of the General Staff.

From 01.01.2000. by Order of the Minister of Defense it was renamed into Rehabilitation Hospital and was included in the composition of the Military Medical Academy - Sofia. It had this status until 19.02.2001, when on the basis of Order No. 20/ 22.12.2000. of the Council of Ministers and Order of the Minister of Defense No. OH2/ 02.01.2001. it was transformed into a Commercial Company by Decision No. 362/ 19.02.2001. of the Pazardzhik District Court with the name "Multidisciplinary Hospital for Post-treatment, Long-term Treatment and Rehabilitation - VITA" EOOD - Velingrad.
